CULTURE, WELCOME, INTEGRATION THE CRUSHED LIVES AND THE LESSON OF THE MEDITERRANEAN
MEDFEST 2024
Organized by Repubblica
Not only Culture, Tourism, Beauty, or trade.
Every day, the Mediterranean tells stories of women, men, and children seeking a safe harbor, driven by the right to survive, the rejection of violence, resistance to poverty and persecution, and the tenacity to dream of a better future.
Women, men, and children who have died simply asking to live.
Addressing the migration issue responsibly and sustainably means reconciling the humanitarian question with the interests of a country that engages in dialogue, that needs new energy, and that is ravaged by the birth rate crisis.
Politics, economics, and demographics speak of a system to support, but first and foremost are the reasons of humanity and integration that require a change of pace.
Italy and the Mediterranean represent a unique heritage, but also a point of reference that cannot betray demands for welcome and solidarity.
During this live streaming, this issue was addressed with particular attention to possible solutions for tackling these questions responsibly and sustainably.
