The National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC) is the first National Research and Innovation Center dedicated to biodiversity, funded by 1 the MUR (Ministry of University and Research) through European Union – NextGenerationEU funds. It is a coordinating structure that, on one hand, gathers and enhances research efforts, and on the other, makes knowledge and technologies accessible to various actors operating in the territory. Over 2000 researchers from research centers, universities, and businesses work within the center, carrying out basic, applied, and innovation research actions dedicated to the biodiversity of the Mediterranean to generate value for the country. The practical aim is to identify suitable strategies to monitor, preserve, and enhance the biodiversity of species and habitats widespread in the various Italian territories.    Through participatory research actions, shared planning, and citizen science activities, the NBFC contributes to generating a culture of nature, bringing knowledge of biodiversity to different contexts starting from schools of various levels, raising awareness among citizens, and supporting political decision-makers in land planning and management.
